Respect a weekly hour work limit for resources
Overview
Some resources are not permitted to work more than a certain number of hours per week.
For example, a contractor may have a contracted number of hours per week for which they are paid and therefore cannot be allocated work with a total duration that would exceed that number of hours. When optimizing schedules that include resources with a maximum number of working hours, Mastermind will not allocate jobs to a resource that would cause them to exceed their maximum number of hours.
Configure Max weekly hours
Maximum weekly hours are set at the resource level using the Max weekly hours field on the resource Details page.
- In the Skedulo web app, open Resources -> People.
- Click the name of the resource for which you want to set a maximum number of weekly hours.
- Open the Details tab.
- Under Employment, edit the Max weekly hours field to set the maximum number of hours a resource can work in a single week.
- Click Save.
Max weekly hours and travel time
The Max weekly hours constraint purely respects work duration time or service time.
Optimization does not consider the travel time between jobs when calculating the work that can be allocated to resources with maximum weekly hours.
If the number of hours set in Max weekly hours includes a resource’s travel time, schedulers can use the Max weekly hours constraint to restrict the amount of time the resource spends traveling between jobs.
